OUR NEW ECOMMERCE BAG IS OUR NEXT STEP IN MOVING TO 100% REUSABLE, RECYCLABLE OR COMPOSTABLE PACKAGING BY 2025.

Made using 100% FSC certified paper, our new ecommerce bag is sourced from Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests and mills and is practically and easily recyclable for all customers through household waste collection.

Our old ecommerce bag, recognisable for its bright orange appearance, was made from 50% recycled plastic. The challenge however, is that it was difficult to recycle through normal domestic routes - feedback from our customers suggested that less than 30% of our bags were actually recycled after delivery.

This change will reduce our use of plastic by 155 tonnes per year and increases our total proportion of reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging to 95% (against our 100% by 2025 target).

In addition to moving to our new paper bag, we’ve also removed the returns labels from each delivery, moving to an online returns process. This removes an estimated 12 million labels from our parcels each year!

Customers will notice that their Superdry product is still delivered in a polybag. This thin clear plastic bag protects the product from becoming dirty or damaged at the factory and during transit. Without a polybag, we have noted that around 30% of garments become damaged beyond being sellable, which ultimately has a far greater environmental cost.

This does not mean we cannot do better, in 2020 we partnered with a new supplier to produce 'closed loop' polybags containing 30% recycled plastic content – and we want to get this to 70% by 2025. The bags are also fully recyclable at local recycling collection points, however we continue to look for new innovations here.

Our new ecommerce bag represents a great move forward in achieving our Zero Waste ambitions while keeping your new Superdry garment in perfect condition!
