On the 6th February 2023 the largest earthquake hit Turkey for 84 years – registering 7.8 on the Richter scale.

13.5 million people and 11 cities - an area equating to the size of Bulgaria, have been put into crisis.

Two of our contracted suppliers based in the region have temporarily ceased production to provide shelter and food to upwards of 300 people.

Our local team, based in Istanbul, Turkey have been keen to ensure we support those in need – we wanted to help where we can have the most impact.

On the advice from people co-ordinating the response, warm winter clothing was needed in the week following the earthquake, the temperature plummeted to -2°c at night. In response, we have donated 22K pairs of winter socks, 2,325 pieces of warm winter clothing and hats.

As a team based in Istanbul, we are proud to be in a position to support with this clothing and ask anybody interested in donating to do so (if your based in the UK) through the Disasters Emergency Committee, or your local equivalent.

Oxfam are also running a competition to raise money for the DEC Turkey-Syria Earthquake appeal – for more information please see their website:
